Attorney IV-AGC Financial Regulations and Solvency
This position is located in the Office of Legal, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs. Under the general supervision of the Deputy Director and General Counsel, this position is responsible for providing effective legal representation to the South Carolina Department of Insurance. This position functions as Associate General Counsel and provides legal advice to assigned units with the Department. This position provides legal advice and representation for all financial regulatory matters, insurance company receiverships as well as cyber security breach response as needed, health insurance, company licensing, regulatory hearings (subrogation) and other matters assigned by the General Counsel or the Director. Attorney IV/AGC-Administration & Information Law
This position is located in the Office of Legal, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs. Under general supervision of the General Counsel, this position is responsible for supporting the internal operations and administrative and planning functions of the South Carolina Department of Insurance. Counsel will report directly to the General Counsel and assist with the drafting and implementation of policies and procedures designed to enhance the Department’s internal operations. The Department has developed guidelines, process and procedures for the tasks performed by this position. Staff Attorney III
The Court of Appeals at the South Carolina Judicial Branch is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Staff Attorney III. Under limited supervision, this position supports the Chief Staff Attorney and Deputy Chief Staff Attorney in managing the day-to-day operations of the Court of Appeals Staff Attorneys’ Office. In their absence, the position supervises and manages the work of up to fifteen attorneys, including assigning and monitoring cases, ensuring timely processing, and maintaining high-quality work standards. The role is responsible for assisting the Court of Appeals’ judges by independently reviewing and researching complex direct appeals, post-conviction relief petitions, and motions including expedited motions and using sound discretion to provide written and oral recommendations to the Court. Duties also include drafting proposed opinions and orders, providing legal analysis, conducting peer review, training staff attorneys, and collaborating with the Court and Clerk’s Office to support the Court’s decision-making process.
