State House Day 2019/CLE Program

On Tuesday, April 2, SCWLA will conduct a CLE program in the morning at the Palmetto Club focusing on lawyers, influence and advocacy. Speakers will include Senators Katrina Frye Shealy, Margie Bright Matthews, Representative Gilda Cobb-Hunter, and Representative Mandy W. Kimmons, a representative from the Governor’s Office, lobbyists, and social activists. After a lunch, we hope that our members will walk over to the State House and legislative office buildings to observe the legislature in session, sit in on meetings of legislative committees and subcommittees, and, if they wish, talk to members of the legislature. Pending legislation this year includes bills on equal pay (April 2 also happens to be Equal Pay Day, which symbolizes how far into 2019 women must work to earn what men earned in 2018) and the Equal Rights Amendment. I hope you can join us for what should be a very informative and motivational day.
