Alina has been a staff attorney/consultant appeals
with Q2 Administrators, LLC, for 9 years. Q2
Administrators, LLC is the Administrative Qualified
Independent Contractor for the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services. In her role, Alina
reviews decisions entered by Administrative Law
Judges (ALJs) in Medicare appeals and prepares
referral memoranda requesting the Medicare
Appeals Council, which is the final level of
administrative appeals in the Medicare system, to
accept review of the ALJs decisions under “own
motion.” The referral memoranda may argue
several issues, most commonly error of law
material to the outcome of the claim or
preponderance of the evidence or both. Prior to
this current position, Alina was an associate
attorney at a Columbia law firm for a few years,
working for the most part in insurance coverage
cases. After graduating law school at the University
of South Carolina School of Law (now Joseph F. Rice
School of Law), Alina was a rotation staff attorney
for the South Carolina Court of Appeals.
